The Alberni Valley Childcare Society has provided a variety of Stepping Stones childcare and early learning programs in Port Alberni for over 30 years. We believe that children learn through play with materials and toys and through interaction with their peers and caregivers.

Our Programs

Infant & Toddler Care: 0-3 yr olds

Our caregivers work to develop a caring, nurturing relationship with each child. Infants and toddlers learn through play, and we support this in our programs.

Daycare: 30 months to 5 year olds

Each child's independence and personal growth is supported in a caring and fun setting. Children are building early learning skills in a daycare environment.

Preschool: 3 to 5 year olds

Welcome to unlimited opportunities to construct, create, imagine and discover! Children participate in a take home reading program that promotes learning.

Before & After School Care

This program provides opportunities for group and personal projects, indoor and outdoor games, art, cooking, weekly outings and special events.

Multi-Age Program: Birth - Grade 6

Offering families the convenience of enrolling different-age siblings in the same program

The Alberni Valley Children Society acknowledges the financial assistance of the Province of British Columbia, through a Provincial Gaming grant and $10 a Day ChildCareBC Centres funding

The Alberni Valley Childcare Society also acknowledges the City of Port Alberni for providing a number of recreational activities for our children to enjoy, through a generous "Grant in Aid."
